Program Information (Information Security Track)

MS Cybersecurity – Information Security Track

Application Requirements

Applicants should have:

  • An undergraduate degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering, OR
  • Strong evidence of programming proficiency and completion of foundational Computer Science coursework, including:
    • Discrete Mathematics
    • Algorithms
    • Operating Systems
    • Computer Networks
    • Computer Architecture

Additional application requirements include:

  • Completion of the online application, including essay questions at https://grad.gatech.edu/
  • Transcripts from each institution attended
    • Unofficial transcripts are accepted for application review
    • Transcripts not in English must include a certified translation
    • Official transcripts will be required upon admission
  • Three recommendation letters submitted through the online application system
    • It is recommended that at least one recommendation come from faculty familiar with the applicant’s academic performance
  • Resume (optional but recommended)
  • GRE scores (Optional but strongly encouraged)
  • Proof of English proficiency in accordance with Institute requirements 

The desirable minimum GPA is 3.3/4.0, though most admitted candidates score higher.

Students are admitted to the master’s program only once each year. The application deadline is February 17 for admission to the following Fall semester. Application decisions are typically available during the first week of April.

Financial Aid and GRA

The College does not offer guaranteed financial aid to students entering this program. Students seeking financial assistance should contact the Georgia Tech Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid

While funding is not guaranteed for master’s students, some students obtain Graduate Research Assistant (GRA) or Graduate Teaching Assistant (GTA) positions after establishing strong academic performance and working relationships with faculty. Students sometimes secure these positions by the end of their first semester after performing well in coursework.

GRA and GTA positions may provide:

  • A 12-credit tuition waiver
  • A monthly stipend based on percentage time worked
  • A waiver of all but $25 of tuition

Students remain responsible for mandatory fees and tuition supplements.
