SCP Monthly Newsletter: August 2026

August was a busy month for the School of Cybersecurity and Privacy, with new research and achievements highlighting the many ways Georgia Tech is working to address emerging security challenges. Faculty and researchers explored cybersecurity threats facing water systems, hospitals, highways, and the growing role of AI in personal relationships. The school also welcomed new faculty members Veronica Rivera and Alex Ozdemir, who brought their research expertise to Georgia Tech after a cross-country journey from California. Students continued to make their mark, with Team Blue Water, featuring nine Georgia Tech participants, winning DEF CON’s prestigious Capture the Flag competition. Looking ahead, students can also take advantage of professional development and networking opportunities at GSX and the upcoming SAME + RTX event.
